The opportunity

A regular customer of ours is looking for a senior Software Development Manager to lead and grow their team of developers, lead the onward development or existing and new products and to further cement their long-established status as a leader in their market.

This role is a challenging mix of hands-on development, people management, product ownership, architecture and strategy.  You'll need to be a talented developer with broad experience across multiple platforms: desktop (Windows), mobile (Android) and cloud (Azure),  You'll also need the skills to lead and grow a team of developers across these disciplines.  

​

You'll need vision, intellectual curiosity and the capability to own and deliver the company's software technology roadmap, utilising the best methods and tools. You'll need to be knowledgeable about security, reliability, scalability, DevOps and Infrastructure as Code.  

​

The role will require a roughly 50/50 split between hands-on and leadership as it stands.  This is likely to shift towards a greater emphasis on leadership as the team grows, but will always retain a hands-on element.

Duties

  • Own and deliver the technology roadmap for the business

  • Lead, mentor and grow a team of talented software developers

  • Responsible for architecture and design decisions 

  • Hands-on contribution to development across desktop, mobile and cloud

  • Perform the roles of Product Owner, Lead Developer & Test Lead

  • Manage relationships with senior internal and external stakeholders

  • Foster a collaborative development culture of continuous improvement

  • Develop and evaluate new proofs-of-concept

Requirements

  • Proven, current hands-on development experience across Windows,  Android & Cloud

  • Strong C# skills with WCF and WPF (MVVM, PRISM, XAML)

  • Native Android app development (Kotlin/Java)

  • Experience of Azure (Azure API management, Azure functions)

  • RESTful API development

  • Frontend development (Angular, Blazor)

  • Experience of Agile and TDD, and Agile tools (Jira, Confluence)

  • Understanding of Microservices

  • Team leadership, coaching and mentoring skills

  • Ability to own and develop a product roadmap

  • Good understanding of security in could and hybrid environments
