The opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to take on an autonomous, influential role in a small, well-established and successful technology company.

 

The role entails taking the lead on a variety of projects and playing a huge part in the engineering of important systems used by the company to connect customers to their leading-edge telecoms products. There is loads of scope in this area of the business and the Senior Developer will work closely with the Directors to understand the evolving business requirements and will be looked upon to design solutions, decide on the best technology to use, etc.

This is a key, senior role in a small technical team.  You'll be taking responsibility for systems that have historically been the domain of the founding directors.

Once you've got to grips with the systems as they stand, and familiarised yourself with the company's objectives, you'll be looked upon to take ownership of crafting and delivering solutions, using the technology and tools you see fit.

Duties

  • Design and development of software solutions using the LAMP stack

  • Development of RESTful API's

  • Technical leadership of projects

  • Gathering requirements from the business and designing appropriate solutions

  • Gathering and delivering on requirements for bespoke customer solutions

  • Provide technical leadership on the ongoing/future development of systems

  • Coach and mentor a small (2) team of developers

Requirements

  • Strong PHP skills

  • Java would be beneficial, as would Jetty and Eclipse skills (or equivalent)

  • Strong Linux, Apache, MySQL experience

  • Experience of developing RESTful API's

  • Linux scripting skills (ideally BASH)

  • HTML5 and CSS3 skills would be useful

  • Prior knowledge of C would be a plus

  • Solution design and leadership skills
