The opportunity

Our client is renowned for innovation in Satellite Communications, working with a wide variety of clients in the commercial and defence sectors.  They also  develop their own cutting-edge products for deployment into highly novel, global wireless communications solutions.

Due to growing demand from their customers, and the progression of a high-profile project, they are looking to hire a Satellite Communications Systems Engineer.  The role is focused on the design and modelling the next generation of military satellite communications systems.

​

This role will have plenty of variety, including analysis and validation of requirements, modelling of satellite networks, end-to-end design, ground segment engineering, payload engineering, testing, preparation of ConOps and service delivery documentation

​

We're looking for someone with proven knowledge of commissioning and testing  of satellite systems, gained either in a commercial or military environment.

​

You'll need to have strong analytical skills, the proven ability to develop innovative solutions and good customer-facing skills.

​

The role is based at our client's Hertfordshire headquarters but with regular travel to client sites in Wiltshire, so from a practical point of view, as long as you can travel, you could be based anywhere between these two.

​

Due to the nature of the role, you will need to undergo Security Clearance.  If you've already been cleared to SC level, all the better.

Duties

  • End-to-end satellite communications design - including RF systems, IP networks and OSS/BSS

  • Requirements analysis and assessment of various solutions to meet customers' requirements

  • Modelling of satellite networks based on end-user needs

  • Input into test strategy and documentation of VV&T plans

  • Ground Segment engineering

  • Terminal design & development

  • Payload engineering, design & testing

  • Preparation of documentation including Concept of Operations

Requirements

  • A thorough understanding of communications systems and the associated engineering concepts

  • Practical experience of satellite comms systems engineering - ideally across ground segment, satellite ops, payload engineering, IP networks, security

  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strong practical knowledge of good systems engineerin practices (Model Based Systems Engineering experience would be a plus)

  • Experience of documenting systems design, test plans & operational procedures
