Cloud Services Systems Engineer

Cloud Services Systems Engineer - the opportunity
We're delighted to be working with this mid-size, global technology services company, who are highly ambitious and successful and deliver solutions into an interesting and fast-moving sector. This is a varied and key role in the "engine room" of the business, providing the Private and Public Cloud, Wintel and Linux infrastructures that support the company's services.
Cloud Services Systems Engineer - the role
The primary focus of this role is the development, support, implementation and evolution of cutting-edge IT infrastructures. There's a healthy mix between project work and support, a wide range of technology in use and a push towards automation and using Infrastructure as Code.
Private Cloud solutions still make up the bulk of work at this stage, so VMWare skills are important, together with strong awareness of Windows servers, AD, Exchange etc, alongside some Linux admin. There is an increasing use of Public Cloud solutions, so Azure and/or AWS experience would be a real plus, though there is definitely room in this role for someone with limited Public Cloud experience to develop their skills in this area.
The role will also involve handling escalations from 3rd-line support, liaising with vendors and clients to resolve problems. You'll also be deploying and managing SAN (HP Nimble), DR technologies, VDI solutions, load balancers and a range of other technologies and tools.
The role is primarily based in Central London, with a hybrid working model: 3 days office/2 days remote being typical. There will also be some travel to Data Centres (Docklands).
